What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. Search Engines such as Google look at a website and determine what it is about. They then use this information to match the words that users search for, to websites they think are relevant and list them in order of priority.
By applying SEO techniques, a website can improve its relevance to particular words (referred to as search terms) and improve the priority of a website in the listing returned. The higher up the list a site appears, the more likely potential customers will visit.
In addition to matching relevant phrases, search engines also check other criteria to see if a website is worthy of a top rated ranking in their listing. The most important criteria is Quality! Is the site well structured? Does it look good on mobile devices as well as desktop computers? Is the content well written? Is the site cared for and regularly updated? The answer to all these questions needs to be a resounding Yes!
